Memorials

7 July permanent memorial

The Royal Parks (TRP) agency, who are leading the project, will shortly begin the commissioning process to appoint a designer for the permanent memorial. Designers will be judged based on their experience, knowledge of the sensitivities of the project and specialist expertise. The comissioning process will take around 6 months, and representatives of the bereaved families will be invited to attend interviews with the shortlisted teams. Once a design team has been appointed, TRP and DCMS will work with them and the families to create a suitable design.
An advert, asking for expressions of interest in the project will appear in relevant trade journals and European Journal within the next few weeks.

If you would like further information, please contact Rachel Noble on or send an email to .

Tsunami Memorial

The DCMS are working with the Tsunami Support (UK) in looking at options for a memorial garden. The DCMS will consult families before making any decisions on this.
